Civil Engineer

Abatec is assisting their client, a tier-one civil engineering contractor, with the recruitment of a permanent Civil Resident Setting Out Engineer.

The successful candidate will be joining a specialist transmission and renewables team delivering complex substation projects up to 400kV across South Wales and the South West of the UK. You will be working on-site alongside project teams, taking responsibility for accurate setting out, technical coordination, and quality assurance to ensure safe, efficient delivery of major energy infrastructure.

As Civil Resident Setting Out Engineer you will:

• Provide survey and setting out for civil elements to enable design and construction of the works
• Reviewing and contributing to Temporary Works processes
• Managing technical queries (TQs/RFIs) and coordinating design clarifications
• Ensuring accurate as-built records and timely client submissions
• Preparing handover documentation, inspection test plans (ITPs), and H&S files
• Participating in design reviews, coordination meetings, and pre-construction planning

Our client requires a Civil Resident Setting Out Engineer with:

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Previous experience setting out & surveying on civil engineering projects
• Valid CSCS & full UK driving licence
• Understanding of CAD software, & project databases
• Experience with Temporary Works
• Experience working om electrical transmission or distribution infrastructure projects (desirable)
• Knowledge of National Grid Transmission Procedures (advantageous)
