Cirencester, Gloucester

Role: Community Connector
Salary: £26-28k (Full Time Equivalent) per annum
Hours: Up to 3 days week (22.5 hrs), worked flexibly to include occasional evening and
weekends where necessary.
Location: Cinderford, but travel throughout the district will be required.
Contract Term: 1-year fixed term contract (aim to start October 2025) extension subject to
funding and performance.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Community Connector to join our dynamic team and
play a pivotal role in transforming health and wellbeing outcomes in Cinderford.

ABOUT US
Forest Voluntary Action Forum (FVAF) is a passionate support and development agency for
voluntary activity and community action in the Forest of Dean. We believe in the power of
communities and spend our time connecting residents with decision makers, supporting local
groups, and helping neighbourhoods do what matters most to them. Through positive
community action, we help citizens develop skills, resilience, and social capital to live more
cohesively together - creating greater individual and collective empowerment to meet health,
wellbeing, and social needs.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Part funded by Active Gloucestershire, this role builds on 18 months of successful place-
based work focusing on what matters most to local residents. As our Community Connector
you will take the lead on transformative place-based work that's making real change happen
in Cinderford - tackling inequalities and getting people more active in their community. You
will:

  •  Work with Active Gloucestershire to create sustainable models and capture learning for long-term legacy
  •  Facilitate the co-production of the 'TRY' Blood Pressure Programme with local rugbyclubs and health professionals
  •  Support Cinderford Action Groups to collaborate, review progress and track impact
  •  Build strong relationships with cross-sector organisations across health, wellbeingand physical activity
  •  Connect residents to appropriate services and opportunities through systems-based approaches
     

ABOUT YOU

  • Excellent communication skills with a positive, creative approach to challenges
  • Proven ability to build strong relationships across community, public and privatesectors
  • Experience with Asset Based Community Development and whole systemsapproaches
  • Strong organisational skills and confident IT user (databases, MS Office)
  • Knowledge of place-based working and the voluntary sector, ideally in the Forest ofDean
  • Ability to inspire others and work flexibly to achieve outcomes
  • Full driving licence with vehicle access (essential)
