Sheet Metal Worker

JGB Engineering is a Gloucestershire-based metal fabricator with 30+ years' experience, designing and building bespoke metalwork in mild steel, stainless steel and aluminium for commercial, industrial and construction clients across the UK.
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sheet Metal Worker to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will fabricate, assemble and finish sheet metal components with precision and efficiency, working from engineering drawings and using our in-house CNC bending and punching alongside traditional sheet metal methods.
Our work is genuinely varied from catering units, including our double 32ft units for Wembley Stadium, to structural steelwork and bespoke fabrication across sectors like hospitality, the MOD, the NHS and data centres — and you'll have the chance to develop through our structured career pathway and skills framework.
Duties
• Fabricate sheet metal parts according to engineering drawings and specifications, using our in-house CNC bending and punching alongside hand tools and tooling
• Mark out, cut, fold, roll and form sheet metal to drawing
• Assemble components by riveting, fastening and joining
• Conduct measurements and calculations using basic maths to ensure precise fabrication
• Deburr, dress and prepare components ready for finishing
• Maintain a clean and organised workspace, adhering to health and safety standards at all times
• Collaborate with the team to meet project deadlines while upholding our quality and finish standards
Qualifications
• Proven experience in sheet metal work or sheet metal fabrication
• Strong mechanical knowledge, with familiarity with sheet metal properties and handling techniques
• Proficiency in using hand tools, tooling and basic measuring instruments; CNC press brake or punch experience an advantage
• Ability to read engineering drawings and interpret specifications accurately
• Good organisational skills with attention to detail in forming and assembly
• Basic maths skills for measurements, calculations and quality checks
• Previous experience working across mild steel, stainless and aluminium is highly desirable
• Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop
What we offer
• £14–17 per hour, depending on skills and experience
• Overtime paid at time and a half
• Early finish at 1:30pm every Friday
• 20 days' holiday plus bank holidays, rising to 23 days after 2 years and 25 days after 5 years — all in addition to bank holidays
