Become a Driver Trainer - Train, Teach & Take Control of Your Career
Looking for a career with flexibility, independence, and genuine job satisfaction?
Whether you’re ready for a complete career change or already qualified, Next Mile Driver Training is growing in the South West, and we’re looking for people who want more than just a job.
We’re recruiting Trainee and Qualified (ADI) Driving Instructors to support increasing demand across the UK, but specifically in the following areas:
Bristol • South Gloucestershire • Swindon and Wiltshire • North Hampshire • South Oxfordshire
This is a self‑employed role that gives you control over your diary, your workload, and your income, with the backing and support of an established local training provider.
Your Path to Becoming a Driving Instructor
We believe people apply with confidence when they can see the journey ahead. Your training follows a clear, structured route aligned with DVSA requirements:
Your step‑by‑step journey:
> Check eligibility & apply to the DVSA
> Pass Part 1 - Theory & Hazard Perception
> Part 2 training & test - Advanced driving ability
> Part 3 training - How to teach confidently and professionally
> Apply for a trainee (PDI) licence (optional earning‑while‑training route)
> Pass Part 3 and qualify as a fully Approved Driving Instructor (ADI)
You’ll be supported at each stage with structured learning, coaching, and professional guidance - not just test preparation, but real‑world teaching skills and standards.
Earn While You Train - Trainee Licence Route
Many people worry about how long it takes before they can start earning. There is a route that can allow you to begin teaching before fully qualifying.
Once you have:
> Passed Part 1 (Theory & Hazard Perception)
> Passed Part 2 (Driving Ability)
> Completed your initial Part 3 training (40 hours)
You may be eligible to apply for a DVSA Trainee Driving Instructor (PDI) licence.
This licence allows you to:
> Teach real learners under supervision
> Earn income while completing your final training
> Gain real‑world experience that can help with Part 3 success
> Start building confidence, skills, and a local reputation sooner
We will guide you through whether this route is suitable for you and support you throughout the process to ensure you are delivering safe, professional instruction.
