We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic and committed assistant to join our engagement team in a safe, secure and welcoming environment . The position involves supporting the engagement team with responding to and de escalating crisis situations as they arise, supporting pupils with their learning in classroom, collaboratively developing personalised plans for pupils, recording and monitoring data.
This position would be suited to a candidate with a proven track record of pastoral care, youth work or school based behaviour management experience . Students with SEMH needs can display challenging behaviour so exceptional behaviour management skills with the ability to be supportive are a must.
The successful applicants will:
- Tutor and support pupils who have complex SEN needs with a primary need of Social , Emotional and Mental Health difficulties
- Support children from a range of ages , backgrounds and abilities
- Effectively engage students in their studies
- Play a proactive and pastoral role in positive behaviour management as well as interacting with the young people during extra curricular times , encouraging them to participate in the social and academic life of the school
- Be flexible , adaptable and have a positive attitude to working in a structured environment
- Effectively communicate with colleagues
- Have skills of empathy , listening , communication and the ability to respond to unexpressed need
- Willingness to undertake the further training that will be offered.
