Role Purpose:
This role is extremely rewarding – you will be making a difference to people’s lives and contributing towards creating a smoke free generation. The role of the Workplace Wellbeing Advisor is to support the delivery of evidenced based, equitable stop smoking services to help to reduce the inequalities throughout Gloucestershire. This will focus on supporting people to quit within a workplace setting, with particular emphasis on clients who work in routine and manual roles. It is essential that the postholder can work flexibly, independently and as part of a team.
Training will be given to ensure staff / applicants are equipped to deliver effective services.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
In this role, you will work with employers and occupational health teams to promote smoke-free workplaces and deliver place-based smoking cessation services that support employees to quit smoking. You will provide evidence-based stop smoking interventions in line with the NCSCT Standard Treatment Programme, delivering support through one-to-one sessions, drop-ins, group programmes, telephone and online support. The role involves motivating and empowering clients to address nicotine addiction, providing education on smoking cessation and behavioural change, and supporting individuals to set realistic and sustainable goals. You will collaborate with a range of professionals to embed smoking cessation within routine care, lead peer support groups to help prevent relapse, and ensure services maximise health gains while reducing health inequalities. You will also analyse service and population data to understand local needs, deliver services across diverse community and workplace settings, maintain accurate records in line with ABL Health policies, and effectively prioritise a varied workload to meet service demands. The post will work under the line management of the Workplace Wellbeing Programme Lead and will play a key role in embedding the service across workplaces in the borough.
Skills and Competencies Required
• Be an experienced Specialist Stop Smoking Practitioner within the community. (Or willing to undergo training provided to become one)
• Experience of working with evolving and developing services
• Positive and proactive outlook with the ability to motivate, engage and support others to achieve the highest standards and outcomes.
• Adept in communication; A strong communicator who adapts the message to fit the needs of the audience including clients, staff, and volunteers at all levels.
• Build strong relationships, foster trust and co-operation among colleagues, stakeholders throughout community settings.
• Quality driven; you naturally seek high standards and actively seek to improve them.
• Value and remain open to new ideas and perspectives.
