We are seeking an enthusiastic, flexible and confident HLTA to support teaching and learning across our primary sites in Quedgeley and Andoversford. This rewarding role involves delivering PPA cover, supervising classes of up to eight students, and providing targeted academic and social–emotional interventions to help our learners thrive.
As a key member of our team, you will build positive, trusting relationships with students, deliver engaging learning tailored to their needs, and support them using relational, trauma-informed approaches. You’ll also contribute to the smooth running of the school through duties such as break and lunchtime supervision, offsite activities, and occasional teacher cover.
If you have strong experience working with children, can remain calm and empathetic under pressure, and enjoy working as part of a supportive and dedicated team, this role offers the chance to make a genuine difference in a nurturing, inclusive environment.
About our school:
The Altus School is a local authority maintained alternative provision school, working with students from Year 1 through to Y11 who predominantly join us after a permanent exclusion from a mainstream setting. We are a supportive and nurturing school and place relationships at heart of all that we do to help our students flourish both in school and in the wider community. You can hear directly from our staff about what it is like to work at the school by looking at our website. You will be joining a challenging but ultimately hugely rewarding environment. Every day is different, you will develop strong working relationships both with students and your colleagues. Together, we make a real difference for our young people and families.
We are a growing school with 7 centres, plus our new primary satellite classroom in a mainstream school, across Gloucestershire. There are a wide range of opportunities to work collaboratively with colleagues across the school to plan and share best practice. In addition, you will benefit from a generous employee assistance scheme which includes health care, online sports and fitness and wellbeing support.
This school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff, and volunteers, to share the same commitment. This position is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
