Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Wire Person to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assembling high-quality wiring harnesses, cable assemblies, box builds and test equipment for both prototype and small-scale production runs (typically no more than three of the same product). You will work from engineering drawings and wiring schedules to deliver precise, reliable results that support the bespoke systems we design and build in-house.

Location: Deerhurst, Gloucestershire (commutable within ~30 miles)
Hours: 37 per week with an early finish on Fridays

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out high-quality soldering and crimping consistently.
  • Produce wiring harnesses and cable assemblies (crimping, soldering, lacing, splicing to aerospace standards).
  • Wire cabinets, small enclosures, fixtures, and racks/panels.
  • Mechanical assembly of components within equipment.
  • (Desirable) PCB assembly to IPC-620 Class 3 standards.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of cable types and connectors (e.g., D38999, Molex, DIN41612, Harting HAN, MAC Panel, VPC).
  • Work with in-house engineers on technical queries and prototype build solutions.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring schedules, and circuit diagrams.
  • Maintain a tidy, methodical, and organised workspace.
  • Provide on-site support at customer premises when required.
  • Adhere to ESD awareness and safety procedures.

Required:

  • Minimum 3 years’ technical assembly experience, ideally within defence, aerospace, or a related high-precision manufacturing environment.
  • IPC/WHMA-A-620 certification (must hold IPC-WHMA-A-620 wiring qualification).
  • Demonstrable competency in soldering, crimping, wiring, and assembly (assessment via competency test).
  • Full driving licence.

Desired:

  • Strong communication skills, able to work independently and within a team.
  • IT literacy (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel).
  • Technical or vocational qualifications relevant to electrical/mechanical assembly.
  • Familiarity with ISO9001 standards and health & safety certifications.
  • Experience using precision hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Familiarity with military spec connectors (e.g. D38999, MIL-26482, ARINC).
