SHESQ Advisor – Engineering

The successful candidate will be supporting excellence in Safety, Health, Environment & Quality across all operations ensuring the business complies with regulatory requirements, internal SHEQ systems and best practice standards, while supporting continuous improvement and enabling effective risk prevention.
To apply for this position you must have proven experience as a SHEQ Advisor or similar within a construction, engineering, or asset care environment.
Responsibilities:
-Maintain, monitor and report on SHEQ metrics, KPIs and registers specific to the company, covering safety incidents, environmental performance, quality non‑conformances, and near‑misses
-Ensure SHEQ management system (incorporating ISO 45001, ISO 14001, ISO 9001) is maintained
-Coordinate internal and external audits for sites/operations; track findings and ensure closure
-Contribute to development and revision of SHEQ policies/procedures tailored to delivery phases
-Prepare and deliver regular reporting (monthly/quarterly) to senior management
-Conduct risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), site inspections and SHEQ reviews
-Identify hazards and opportunities for improvement; liaise with teams to implement corrective actions
-Investigate accidents, incidents and near misses including root cause analysis and follow up
-Support change management to embed SHEQ in design, construction and asset management phases
-Oversee quality assurance activities and ensure deliverables meet required standards
-Monitor environmental aspects (waste, emissions, sustainability initiatives)
-Support continuous improvement initiatives in SHEQ and embed a culture of high performance
-Develop and deliver SHEQ training, toolbox talks, inductions and communications
Attributes:
-Strong knowledge of UK health & safety legislation, environmental regulations, and ISO management systems
-Experience in audits, investigations, risk assessments, and SHEQ reporting
-Strong IT skills and experience of SHEQ systems/document control
-Excellent communication and influencing skills across all levels
-Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and prioritisation abilities
-Proactive and independent, yet collaborative within project teams
Hours – Full time - Monday to Friday (hybrid working available)
Salary – up to £55,000 depending on experience + access to company vehicle + bonus arrangements
