Our prestigious client based in Gloucestershire is currently looking for a Nickel Plating Operative to join their established team.

The Role ;

  • To regularly monitor (e.g. daily and weekly basis) and ensure that quality control checks are adhered to for the plating solutions
  • To prepare moulds for plating process (Lacquering / taping up / shielding etc.)
  • To monitor on a daily basis all products within the plating tanks and ensure these are being plated to the correct plating schedule
  • To repair fixtures and fittings required in the plating process requiring a basic electrical and mechanical understanding
  • To clean diamond, sieve as and when appropriate in line with production requirement
  • Ensure the plating shop area is kept clean and tidy, which involves the washing of floors and plating tanks
  • To monitor & maintain the deionized water & effluent plant

General Duties ;

  • Read and review work order instructions and blue print specifications to correctly interpret an engineering drawing to tight tolerances
  • Be responsible for self-inspection at all stages of manufacture, continuously measuring for conformance to individual customer tolerances using precision instruments during process as well as finished work
  • Ensure tight material and process control through robust SAP line item confirmation and sporadic stock checks, highlighting shortages and stock out positions
  • Support all team members in order to achieve production targets and departmental objectives to include cross training of other new or inexperienced employees
  • Liaise with full shop floor team to ensure delivery dates can be achieved in line with production capacity, informing them of any variations / delays.
  • Maintain machines, equipment and work areas to the highest standards through diligent preventative maintenance procedures (e.g. machine lubrication), house keeping (e.g. guarding checks & daily 10 minute cleaning regime) and fault reporting
  • Maintain tools and equipment provided, observing Company requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures (Health, Safety, Environment, Quality and HR)
  • Participate in teams and fully contribute to culture of excellence in customer service through continuous improvement programs, such as World Class Manufacturing (WCM), 5S and internal waste reduction plans.
  • Maximise productivity to achieve all production, quality and safety objectives by minimising machine downtime, setup changeovers and waste
  • Undertake other reasonable duties or jobs within the capabilities of the individual as the needs of the business require.
