Our client is a leader in the design and manufacturing of bespoke valves for a variety of industries and they are looking for a Design Engineer to join their team!
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Interpret customer requirements and specifications to develop engineered product designs
- Plan and prioritise engineering activities to ensure projects are delivered on time
- Produce detailed 3D CAD models, engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Design new products and modifications in line with customer and industry requirements
- Perform engineering calculations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) where required
- Analyse test data and prepare technical reports to verify product performance
- Ensure designs comply with API, ISO, PED, ASME VIII and customer specifications
- Apply Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles
- Solve complex mechanical engineering problems using a logical approach
- Review engineering drawings and BOMs to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Support the introduction of new products into production
- Drive Continuous Improvement initiatives to enhance products and processes
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to other Engineers
- Represent Engineering at internal and customer meetings when required
- Deputise for the Principal Engineer as required
- Undertake additional engineering duties as directed by the Product Design Manager
- Travel to customer sites and other business locations as required
Ideal Candidate:
- Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Experienced using 3D CAD software for mechanical design
- Experience designing high-pressure equipment within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of engineering calculations, FEA and GD&T
- Understanding of DFM, DFA and engineering materials, particularly metals
- Experience producing engineering drawings and Bills of Materials
- Familiar with MRP systems such as Visual or Syteline
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and technical software such as MathCAD or LabView
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Able to manage multiple projects and work to demanding deadlines
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
Salary: £50,000 Annual +
Hours Per Week: Full Time
