Engineering Shift Team Leader
Location: Tewkesbury
Salary: £20.51 - £21.51 per hour (DOE) + overtime at 1.25x hourly rate after 40 hours
Hours: 40 hours per week (two-week rotating shift pattern)
Contract: Permanent
Are you an experienced Engineering professional with strong leadership capability and an electrical bias? We are seeking an Engineering Shift Team Leader to provide hands-on support to the Engineering team and ensure the smooth operation of production and distribution across a fast-paced site in Tewkesbury.
This is a key supervisory role within the Engineering department, combining technical expertise with team leadership and operational accountability.
Shift Pattern
Two-week rotating rota:
* Week 1: Monday to Friday, 06:00 - 13:45 plus Saturday 06:00 - finish (6 shifts)
* Week 2: Monday to Friday, 13:45 - 21:45 (5 shifts)
Flexibility is essential, including participation in a breakdown call-out rota.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Engineering Manager in delivering departmental KPIs and objectives
* Supervise, train and mentor Engineers, ensuring effective deployment of skills
* Coordinate and execute planned preventative maintenance (PPM) schedules
* Carry out electrical and mechanical repairs and testing of plant equipment
* Lead fault-finding and resolution on high-speed automated machinery
* Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with engineering standards
* Support and mentor Apprentices where appropriate
* Deputise for the Engineering Manager when required
* Provide hands-on support during breakdowns and peak operational periods
Skills & Experience Required
* Electrical-based apprenticeship qualification (essential)
* Proven experience within high-speed FMCG or similar production environments
* Strong electrical fault-finding capability (essential)
* Experience with automated machinery and production systems (essential)
* Previous supervisory or team leadership experience (essential)
* Strong communication skills with the ability to build effective working relationships
* Self-motivated, adaptable and capable of managing changing priorities
