About us

JSM Brand Exposure is a branded merchandise, print and corporate gifting company based in Gloucester. We work with some of the UK's best known brands, supplying everything from staff uniforms and welcome packs to point of sale for national branch networks. We run our own 16,000 sq ft production and fulfilment site and have a team of around 30.

The role

We are looking for an experienced quoter or estimator to take ownership of quoting for our sales team. This is a responsible role. You'll prepare quotes for our account managers and in many cases send them to clients on their behalf, so every price needs to be accurate, deliverable and make us the right margin. You'll also be expected to negotiate with suppliers on every order to get us the best price.

Around half the role is quoting and buying. The rest is split between supporting our Business Development Manager and our Marketing Manager. It would suit someone who likes variety and can manage their own workload.

What you'll be doing

Quoting and commercial (approx. 50%)

• Handling enquiries from our account managers and asking the right questions about budget, quantities, timescales and what the client is trying to achieve
• Sourcing products from UK and overseas suppliers and recommending the best options
• Negotiating better prices with suppliers, order on order
• Preparing accurate quotes and sending them to account managers, or direct to clients on their behalf
• Helping put together tender and bid submissions
• Following up open quotes and tracking which ones we win and lose, and why
• Spotting ways to improve margin and reduce costs
• Keeping our ERP data accurate, standardising our quote templates and using AI tools to speed up quoting
• Occasionally joining client meetings on bigger opportunities, and supplier meetings to improve pricing and ranges

Business development support (approx. 25%)

Our Business Development Manager works full time on winning new clients. You'll handle the admin that keeps his pipeline moving:

• Planning and building email campaigns sent in his name, including contact lists and tracking responses
• Researching target companies and contacts before outreach
• Keeping the CRM up to date so follow-ups don't get missed
• Organising gift packs and samples for prospects with our warehouse team

Marketing support (approx. 25%)

Our Marketing Manager runs our campaigns, website and content. You'll support him on projects as they come up:

• Gathering case studies, product images and client information for content
• Helping with website product updates, social posts and newsletters
• Helping prepare for trade shows and events

What we'll expect from you

• Quotes that are right first time, with every cost included: print, set-up, carriage and packing
• Quotes sent within agreed turnaround times, and the account manager told early if one is going to be late
• Better prices from suppliers order on order, and pricing that hits our target margins
• A CRM, ERP and quote pipeline that's always up to date

What we're looking for

Essential

• At least 2 years in a commercial or quoting role
• Experience negotiating with suppliers
• Proven ability to handle complex quotes and tenders
• Strong commercial sense. You focus on profit, not just price
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
• Able to work under pressure and hit tight deadlines
• Good written and verbal communication
• Self-motivated and able to work on your own initiative

Desirable

• Experience with tenders and framework agreements
• Process improvement experience
• Far East buying and importing/exporting
• A background in promotional merchandise, print, packaging or signage
