Head of English & Drama

The Dean Close St. John’s School is looking to appoint an inspirational Head of English and Drama to lead two vibrant and high-profile subjects at the heart of school life. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding classroom practitioner and leader to shape curriculum, teaching, creativity and performance, while igniting a lifelong love of language, literature and drama. This is a full-time role, starting in September 2026.
As Head of English and Drama, you will provide strategic and day-to-day leadership for both subjects, ensuring high-quality teaching, ambitious curriculum design and outstanding pupil outcomes. You will inspire colleagues, motivate pupils, and champion a culture of creativity, inclusion and high expectations.
This role is ideal for an ambitious leader who thrives on impact, innovation and collaboration. We are looking to hold interviews week commencing 11th May 2026 at our school.
The successful candidate would hold a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) (or equivalent) and a relevant degree and will demonstrate they are an outstanding classroom practitioner in English, with a passion for Drama.
