Deputy Manager - Before & After School Club and Holiday Playscheme

We’re looking for an enthusiastic Deputy Manager to join our friendly, fun children’s club! You’ll help deliver safe, high-quality play experiences, support staff, and help grow our provision – including pre-school children.
Term-Time (Mon–Fri):
- Before School Club: 7:15–9:00am
- After School Club: 3:00–6:00pm
- Plus extra OT for admin, staff meetings, and training
- School Holidays (Mon–Fri):
- 7:30am – 6:00pm (flexible shifts)
What you’ll do:
- Lead sessions and step in for the Manager when needed
- Plan, set up, and deliver fun, engaging activities for children aged 3+
- Support, supervise, and mentor playworkers and volunteers
- Use your experience to help the club grow and include pre-school children
- Keep everything safe, welcoming, and in line with EYFS
- Handle admin confidently using Word, Excel, Canva
- Bring creativity to activities and join in games, sports, and play with children
Who we’re looking for:
- Someone with childcare/play experience and some leadership skills
- Good organisational and communication skills
- Confident in English (EYFS requirement)
- Competent with computers/software and able to plan creatively
- Happy to join in active games and sports with the children

You must one have an Early Years Years Qualification - which may include-
- Level 3 (Core EYFS Qualified Practitioner)
- Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator)
- CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator)
- BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Children’s Play, Learning and Development
- NCFE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Practitioner
- Level 3 NVQ in Childcare and Education
- Level 3 Apprenticeship in Early Years Educator
or
Higher-Level Qualifications (Also EYFS Compliant)
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – fully counts as a qualified teacher in EYFS settings
- Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with EYFS/Primary focus – fully recognized Level 4/5 Diplomas in Leadership or Early Years Practice
- BA/BSc (Hons) in Early Childhood Studies, Education, or Child Development – relevant degree-level qualifications recognized for EYFS staffing ratios
- EYPS (Early Years Professional Status)
Desirable -
- Paediatric First Aid Certificate (required for all early years staff)
- Safeguarding Children Training (Level 3 recommended)
- SEND Awareness / Inclusion Training
- Food Hygiene / Nutrition Training (if supporting mealtimes)
