At Yate Academy, we are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated Head of Department to lead our art provision and contribute to the continued success of our school.
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced teacher to shape the strategic direction of the department. As Head of Department, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring an engaging and ambitious curriculum is delivered effectively, enabling every pupil to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with senior leaders and colleagues across the school to raise standards, share best practice and contribute to the wider success of the school.
Main duties of the role include:
- Organise curriculum delivery within the Art Department.
- Make available full, up-to-date schemes of work, for the subjects within the Learning Area.
- Encouraging the selection of suitable teaching and learning styles and subject matter in providing a differentiated approach to students.
- Monitor and analyse the academic performance of students on an ongoing basis and provide relevant reports when requested.
- Devise and implement appropriate intervention strategies.
- Complete self-evaluation documentation, following data analysis.
We are looking for an individual who:
- Qualified Teacher Status
- Relevant postgraduate studies.
- Previous experience as a subject Head (desirable but not essential).
- Successful teaching experience in Art at Key Stage 3 & 4.
- An exceptional classroom practitioner.
- Able to identify strengths and gaps in students’ understanding and act appropriately.
- Outstanding organisational skills to ensure efficient and effective implementation of the role.
- Ability to self-evaluate to inform improved outcomes.
- Commitment to high standards and expectations.
