ABL Health are proud to power the Healthy Lifestyle service in Gloucestershire, commissioned by Gloucestershire County Council. This transformative service seeks to work collaboratively with communities to transform the lives of the local population. The service will support residents to help them lose weight, stop smoking, reduce alcohol consumption, get more active and improve their wellbeing – all embedded in sustainable behaviour change. The service will also deliver the 1001 days programme supporting families and young children and the Healthy Workplace award scheme
You will be crucial in delivering our programmes of work to the local community – including weight management, smoking cessation and other wellbeing schemes. You will work with this community to develop services that meet their needs. The ideal candidate will be passionate about delivering client-centred motivational change and supporting people living with long term conditions to take up healthy lifestyles. You will have a background in working within health promotion, nutrition, exercise, health improvement, adult and/or family weight management, smoking cessation or similar and be an excellent team player and have a willingness to learn and develop.
Duties and Responsibilities:
We’re looking for a passionate and proactive individual to join ABL Health’s Healthy Lifestyles service. In this role, you’ll deliver personalised one-to-one support both in the community and remotely via Zoom, Teams, or phone. You’ll educate clients on nutrition, physical activity, and behaviour change, using a client-centred approach rooted in motivational interviewing and positive psychology. Regular travel across the county, including the Forest of Dean, is required to meet service needs. You’ll track client progress, support programme development, contribute to social media and reporting, and engage with stakeholders and the wider community. This is a varied and rewarding role ideal for someone organised, compassionate, and committed to making a positive impact on public health.
Essential Requirements:
- Experience of delivering groups and/or one-to-one behaviour change
- Experience of delivering health promotion / public health interventions in community settings
- Previous paid or voluntary experience working with people.
- Registration with CIMSPA (this can be obtained within 6 months of employment)
- Experience working with underserved communities and tackling health inequalities
