Job summary

The Gloucestershire Respiratory Service are looking to recruit an enthusiastic individual with a strong background in exercise and an interest in caring for adults with long term conditions. You will join our team at an exciting stage of our development. We have recently become a Royal College of Physicians Accredited Pulmonary Rehabilitation service (2025). Embedded into our team culture is a commitment to continuous improvement and delivering high quality care.

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a flexible and motivated individual who will enjoy travelling around the beautiful county of Gloucestershire delivering therapies and treatment to its local respiratory community.

The service is also integrating Therapy assistants into delivering other treatments including, the management of breathlessness and home oxygen, which includes completing oxygen assessment such as ambulatory oxygen assessments and capillary blood gas assessment

A valid UK driving licence plus the use of own transport for business purposes is essential.

Main duties of the job

Gloucestershire Respiratory Service is a county wide integrated service linking in with primary care and secondary care services. There are four arms to the service which are:

  • Home Oxygen assessment and management (under clinical supervision)
  • Respiratory Assessment and treatment
  • Pulmonary Rehabilitation
  • Physiotherapy Clinic for patients with suspected breathing pattern disorders and sputum retention problems

There will be opportunity to learn and experience all aspects of the service and work closely with Nurses and Physiotherapists. The successful candidate will be working predominately in Pulmonary Rehabilitation delivering exercise to those with chronic respiratory conditions. The role expands to include elements of respiratory assessment and treatment in home oxygen.

The role does include clinical, administrative and clinical audit duties and therefore good technology and communication skills are essential.

There is clinical supervision within the role and many learning opportunities via in-house and external training courses. There is a comprehensive induction and competency framework to support you.
