Clinical Director – Community Hospitals & Urgent Care

Clinical Director – Community Hospitals & Urgent Care

Gloucester

Job summary

Gloucestershire Health and Care NHS Foundation Trust is responsible for community, mental health and learning disabilities for the county of Gloucestershire.

This is an exciting time to provide clinical leadership in Gloucestershire's community hospitals and community urgent care services, with more emphasis than ever before on providing care closer to people's homes.

You will be experienced in delivering clinical care to people with frailty, co-morbidities, end of life care, those requiring rehabilitation in the community as well as managing minor and acute illness. You will be a dedicated, enthusiastic, respected clinician who enjoys a challenge, thrives in a multi-disciplinary team environment and has service users at the heart of everything that you do.

The role will be part time, 3 days per week, which will include half-day of direct patient-facing work across our Community Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

Support experienced clinical teams and leaders in Community Hospital inpatients, Rapid Response, Minor Injury and Illness Units (MIIUs), Home IV Team and Homeward Assessment Team. You will be at the forefront of shaping the provision of urgent community response and intermediate care across the county, including working closely with our Integrated Urgent Care Service (IUCS).

Lead on clinical governance and provide line management to salaried GPs and specialist doctors in our Community Hospitals.

In a triumvirate with the Service Director and a representative from the NQT directorate you will oversee strategic decisions including system-wide urgent care transformation programme and neighbourhood health development.

Work with the Service Director to continue to develop a clinical workforce plan and regularly update this in line with the strategic aims and development across the various directorates.

Form excellent professional relationships with the external stakeholders such as local general practices, emergency and frailty services in our local acute trust, South West Ambulance Service and Integrated Care Board colleagues, amongst others.

Coordinate and deliver a program of clinical teaching and supervision.

Be supported to further develop your skills as a clinical leader in a large, experienced, community provider organization.

Have experience working as a senior doctor in the NHS, including supervising clinical staff, supporting and developing teams and services.

About us

Our medical directorate also supports all doctors through positive relationships with the LNC and Medical Staffing Committee.

We are supportive of the people we care for in the community and aim to provide a fully responsive service to everyone who needs it. This is the same approach we take for our employees. We look to value the skills and experiences of those we work with, whether they are service users, carers, families or those looking to work with us.

We treat NHS patients according to NHS principles and standards. The difference is the Trust is accountable to local people, rather than to Government, and so we are able to work closely with our community to develop services in the way that best suits the needs of local people.

We have a skilled and dedicated workforce of over 5000 colleagues working in a diverse range of services over 55 sites and within people's homes. We strive to enable a welcoming workplace culture that builds and celebrates civility, inclusivity and diversity, while providing a sense of belonging and trust.
