Location: Church Street Medical, Tewkesbury
Start Date: October 2025 (1-month handover with current manager)

About the Role

We are offering a fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Reception Manager to join our dynamic and responsive team, committed to delivering accessible, high-quality healthcare in the historic riverside town of Tewkesbury.

At Church Street Medical, part of Inspire Healthcare, we pride ourselves on our forward-thinking approach. We were one of the first practices to recruit Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Pharmacists, and Paramedics to support our clinical services. We continue to invest in new technologies to support the delivery of primary care.

About Us

Inspire Healthcare operates across five practice sites in Cheltenham, Tewkesbury, and Cirencester.

We care for over 34,000 patients with a growing list size.

Our team includes:

  • 26 Doctors
  • 35 Nurses
  • 50+ Non-clinical Staff

About You

Essential: Minimum of 1 year’s experience in a similar role within a GP surgery

Preferred: Familiarity with SystmOne

Ability to cover staff holidays and sickness (including during school holidays)

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Supervision

  • Manage and support the Reception Team

Ensure all daily reception tasks are completed, including:

  • Appointment management
  • Prescription issuing
  • Stocking forms (e.g., registration forms)

Mail Manager

  • Act as Holiday Manager for the reception team
  • Ensure eLearning training is completed by all staff
  • Participate in recruitment, induction, and staff reviews
  • First line of management for reception-related issues
  • Monitor attendance, sickness, annual leave, and staff rotas
  • Maintain clear communication with the Practice Manager

Administrative Duties

  • Keep the Reception Handbook up to date
  • Coordinate room usage for clinical and visiting staff
  • Oversee registration processes
  • Manage general housekeeping duties
  • Provide hands-on support to the reception team

Reception Desk Duties

  • Greet and assist patients in a polite, courteous manner
  • Handle phone calls and appointment bookings efficiently
  • Ensure messages are passed on accurately and promptly
  • Maintain accurate patient records
  • Operate relevant IT systems and software (e.g. prescriptions, patient records)
  • Keep the waiting and reception areas tidy
  • Perform general administrative tasks to support the practice
