Band 5 Staff Nurse - Bristol

Band 5 Staff Nurse - Bristol

Bristol

Job summary

Cherry Ward functions as an 18 bedded mixed sex acute ward for adults of working age (18-65yrs). The ward successfully opened in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic and since opening, our well developed, diverse and high achieving nursing team have received high praise. Cherry Ward takes pride on being a therapies driven acute inpatient ward where we focus on utilising least restrictive therapeutic approaches to caring for our service users.

The ward works closely with the other inpatient wards to facilitate treatment on both the AWP Callington Road Hospital site and other units across the locality. Working on Cherry Ward would provide you with a wealth of learning opportunities to develop new skills in working with service users from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures, who are experiencing an acute episode of mental health problems.

We are looking for highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 5 Staff Nurses to join our experienced and cohesive team. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality, evidence-based individualised and person centred care with the emphasis being on providing a therapeutic environment, allowing our service users a space for assessment, treatment and recovery.

All nursing staff are expected to work a mixture of shifts, consisting of earlies, lates, nights and weekends. All staff are expected to have undertaken or undertake RRI training and PERT.

Main duties of the job

Your role as a Band 5 Staff Nurse will include co-ordinating shifts, attending ward rounds, completing medication rounds, supervising students and HCA's. You will work closely with service users in the key working role, supporting both service users and their carers during their admission and discharge back in to the community.

Cherry Ward staff have a well-established working relationship with our neighbouring acute wards on the Callington Road site - we try to support each other wherever possible. All staff are expected to support other units on site, particularly in emergencies.

We are keen to develop our Staff Nurses; you will receive relevant training and supervision, develop close links with multiagency services in Bristol, and you may be able to rotate into other areas of Bristol inpatient services.

Cherry Ward offers opportunities around career development, taking on lead roles to support the development of the team and service delivery. We also welcome our staff to seek additional training opportunities to meet their interests, eg. working with learning disabilities, dual diagnosis and furthering continued professional and academic development. You will be supported as a practice assessor/practice supervisor for students & be actively encouraged to be a vital part of student nurses learning and development.
