Job summary

Join Our Forward Thinking Cardiology Team - Make a Lasting Impact on Patients with Complex Arrhythmias

Are you a driven and compassionate nurse with a passion for cardiology and a vision for career development? This is your opportunity to join our dynamic, patient-centred Arrhythmia Team in a Band 6 development role, with a clear pathway to a Band 7 Specialist Nurse post following completion of independent prescribing and agreed competencies.

In this pivotal role, you will work alongside an experienced multidisciplinary team of cardiac physiologists, consultants, specialist nurses, and electrophysiology professionals, managing patients with a range of complex arrhythmias across outpatient, inpatient, and community settings.

We are proud of our supportive learning environment, where innovation is encouraged and professional development is actively championed. As a Band 6 Nurse, you will receive structured mentorship and training to develop advanced clinical assessment and decision-making skills, working toward autonomy as a Band 7 Arrhythmia Specialist Nurse.

We're seeking a motivated and adaptable nurse with cardiology experience (ideally within arrhythmia or device management), excellent communication skills, and a genuine enthusiasm for professional growth. You'll be supported every step of the way to become a confident, autonomous Arrhythmia Specialist Nurse at Band 7 level.

Main duties of the job

As a Band 6 Arrhythmia Specialist Nurse, you will play a vital role in the delivery of expert, patient-centred care for individuals with complex arrhythmias. This development post is designed to prepare you for progression to a Band 7 role once you have completed your independent prescribing qualification and achieved key clinical competencies.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Conducting structured patient assessments and follow-ups for individuals with arrhythmias and implanted cardiac devices (e.g., pacemakers, ICDs).

  • Supporting and delivering nurse-led arrhythmia clinics under supervision, with increasing autonomy as competencies are achieved.

  • Providing patient education, lifestyle advice, and support for self-management, including anticoagulation and symptom management.

  • Collaborating with consultants and the wider team to contribute to shared decision-making and personalised care plans.

  • Interpreting remote device data and managing alerts/escalations as part of the cardiac monitoring service.

  • Participating in ward rounds and inpatient reviews, supporting continuity of care from hospital to community settings.

  • Engaging in service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives to improve patient outcomes and pathways.

  • Undertaking postgraduate education (e.g., prescribing, arrhythmia modules) with structured mentorship to progress to Band 7.
