Job summary

Haematology Clinical Nurse Specialist, Band 7 (30 hours a week)

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Haematology nurse to join us as a Myeloma CNS. The post-holder will work alongside the existing Haematology CNS and CSW team to deliver holistic care to patients diagnosed with Myeloma, from diagnosis to end of treatment or end of life. The post-holder will either hold or be required to complete Non-Medical Prescribing and an accredited Health assessment qualification within a defined time and will deliver nurse led clinics.

Applicants will be a confident, proactive and compassionate Band 6 or Band 7 nurse with strong haemato-oncology experience and excellent communication skills. They should have a strong understanding of Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment and associated toxicities, be able to work autonomously, prioritise effectively and demonstrate advanced clinical decision-making.

The successful applicant will be supported by the wider Haematology Specialist Nurse team , a group of 6 nurses working alongside 3 Cancer Support Workers who are all passionate about providing excellent support and care to our patients.

Additional contract details: 30 hours across 4 days(must include Weds-Friday)

Main duties of the job

See attached job description for detail. Main duties will include:

- Lead clinical care by managing a patient caseload providing expert assessment, planning, and evaluation of clinical practice.

- The post holder will assess individuals' care needs, developing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care to meet the needs of patients within the clinical environment and outpatient setting.

- Undertake extended clinical skills and/or procedures to meet the needs of the individual service e.g. non-medical prescribing and clinical procedures (Bone Marrow biopsies, etc.)

- Identify and assess patients' physical, social and psychological needs to support the development of comprehensive holistic needs assessment and personalised care and support plans.

- Utilise Advanced Communications Skills and Psychological Support Level 2 training in listening and information-processing to communicate highly complex and sensitive information to patients and carers daily.

- Respond to individuals' complex needs and concerns.

- Make judgements surrounding complex health concerns or situations which require analysis, interpretation and a range of care options to enable the initiation of nursing care interventions

- Undertake nurse led clinics, ensuring patients have appropriate support and information (verbal and written) as well as an opportunity to discuss questions or concerns.
