Job summary

Are you an enthusiastic, compassionate registered nurse who has an interest in haematology and strives to deliver excellent patient care? We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse to join us as a Haematology Nurse Specialist with a focus on caring for patients with Myeloma or those undergoing an autologous stem cell transplant. The post-holder will work alongside the existing Myeloma and Transplant Haematology CNS' and CSW team to deliver holistic care to patients diagnosed with Myeloma, from diagnosis to end of treatment or end of life.

Applicants will be confident, proactive and compassionate Band 5 or Band 6 nurse with haemato-oncology experience and excellent communication skills. They must have a strong understanding of Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment and associated toxicities. The postholder will be responsible for working collaboratively with a range of healthcare professionals and agencies, providing specialist advice and support, to ensure the delivery of high quality and efficient services to meet the cancer priorities of the organisation and the national cancer agenda. and demonstrate advanced clinical decision-making.

Additional working pattern details: Across 4 days- Monday/ Tuesday/ Thursday and Friday

Main duties of the job

Includes;

Provide appropriate support and nurse specialist input to agreed standards throughout the diagnostic process, at diagnosis and throughout the cancer pathway

The postholder will assess individuals' care needs, developing, planning, implementing and evaluating care to meet the needs of patients within the clinical environment and outpatient setting.

Identify and assess patients' physical, social and psychological needs to support the development of holistic needs assessment and personalised care and support plans.

Provide on-going advice and support to enable patients to make informed decisions about their management and care

Support the delivery of all personalised cancer care key metrics as per national recommendations.

Provide advice, support and symptom management for patients and carers within the scope of expected practice aligned with the ACCEND framework for enhanced level of practice. Communicate highly complex and sensitive information to patients and carers within clinical competence.

To make judgements surrounding complex health concerns or situations which require analysis, interpretation and a range of care options to enable the initiation of nursing care interventions.

Undertake extended clinical skills and/or procedures to meet the needs of the individual service e.g. clinical procedures as required by the service (Bone Marrow biopsies, etc.)

The successful applicant will be supported by the Haematology Specialist Nursing team who are a group of 6 nurses working together with 3 cancer support workers who are passionate about providing excellent support and care to our patients.
