Kingsholm Ward is an open 15 bedded male acute inpatient ward, for men experiencing mental health difficulties either informally or under MHA detention. The role of an inpatient staff nurse here, is a varied and complex one, with huge potential for knowledge and competence development. We focus heavily on creating a therapeutic and collaborative environment, which focuses on understanding and responding to the holistic needs of our patients and fosters a culture of learning, development and compassion. As a staff nurse, you would be responsible for direct clinical care of patients, including medication administration, rapport building, care planning and assessment of mental state, among many other aspects. You would be part of a diverse team, where all backgrounds, experiences and perspectives are considered and valued as part of creating meaningful change and recovery.
Main duties of the job
In this role, you will provide comprehensive care to service users experiencing acute mental health issues. Your responsibilities will include administering medications, developing individualised care plans, and working closely with a multidisciplinary team to ensure holistic patient care. Strong communication skills, a compassionate approach, and a commitment to improving patient outcomes are essential.
