Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Neurology Nurse Practitioner to join the Neurology Specialist Nursing Team at Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The post holder will provide high-quality, evidence-based nursing care and specialist support to patients living with neurological conditions, including Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Motor Neurone Disease (MND), Epilepsy, and Parkinson's Disease (PD). Working collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team, they will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care across both hospital and community settings, supporting nurse-led and consultant-led services.

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and compassionate nurse wishing to develop specialist knowledge and skills within a dynamic neurology service that places patient experience, accessibility and integrated care at the heart of what it does.

Main duties of the job

A key element of the role is providing a single point of contact for patients, carers and healthcare professionals through the Neurology Advice Line service. This service receives over 600 calls each month and plays a vital role in delivering timely clinical advice, symptom management support, care coordination, and escalation where appropriate. The post holder will contribute to ensuring patients have rapid access to specialist guidance, helping to prevent unnecessary admissions and improve patient experience.

The role includes managing advice line enquiries, supporting outpatient clinics, undertaking inpatient reviews, delivering patient education, and contributing to integrated care pathways to ensure safe, effective and patient-centred care. The successful candidate will also participate in service development, quality improvement initiatives, clinical audit, and the delivery of local and national standards for neurological care.
