An opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Dietetic Assistant Practitioner to join the Multidisciplinary Team at the new Learning Disability and Autism inpatient service for adults with a treatable mental health condition opening in Bristol, as part of Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health NHS Partnership Trust (AWP).

You will be part of developing the Dietetic service and part of the wider Allied Health Professions team, which includes Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech and Language Therapy.

You will work under the guidance of the Specialist Learning Disabilities and Autism Dietitian to provide a safe, effective and evidence based dietetic service to the patients in this 10 bedded inpatient service.

You will have the opportunity to link in and be part of a friendly and supportive Nutrition and Dietetic Team, where there is a strong emphasis on teamwork and evidence-based working.

Main duties of the job

To assist the qualified Dietitian in the delivery of the therapy service to a specified caseload of inpatients.

To work without direct supervision, undertaking talks that fall within the remit of the non-complex patient. This can include initial assessments.

To routinely act as first contact with the non-complex patient.

To carry own caseload of non-complex patients, devising and implementing treatment programmes with reference to a qualified Dietitian.

Assisting the qualified Dietitian with the assessment of complex cases and ongoing management.

To provide nutrition focussed group activities for inpatients.

To provide ongoing nutrition screening training for inpatient staff.

To provide administrative support for the Nutrition and Dietetic team.
