Job summary

The Medical Day Unit is a busy and dynamic outpatient department that provides a wide range of treatments and diagnostic procedures, including:

- Intravenous infusions

- Blood transfusions

- Diagnostic endocrine testing

- Other scheduled day-case therapies

We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Band 3 Technician to join our friendly team on a permanent basis.

As a key member of the unit, you will provide clinical and non-clinical support to ensure the smooth running of the department. The role includes assisting registered nurses, supporting patient flow, preparing clinical areas, and helping maintain high standards of safety and cleanliness.

Cannulation skills are desirable but not essential--full training and ongoing support will be provided for the right candidate.

This role is well-suited to someone who enjoys variety, teamwork, and delivering high-quality care in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Working Pattern: Monday-Friday 07:00-17:00, Saturday 08:00-16:00

Main duties of the job

- Support the preparation and delivery of intravenous infusions and other treatments

- Assist with patient observations and monitoring, under supervision

- Maintain stock levels and ensure clinical areas are well organised

- Support clinical staff with daily workflow and patient movement

- Contribute to infection control and health & safety standards

- Liaise with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams

- Assist with administrative duties as required

- Participate in training, competency development, and reflective practice

A designated coordinator is on duty each day to maintain smooth patient flow, support staff, and help manage any challenges that arise. Good communication and teamwork are essential to how we work, and we encourage open dialogue and shared problem-solving.

Training and Development

- Full orientation to the department

- Training in cannulation and venepuncture (if not already competent)

-Opportunities to develop clinical skills related to infusions and specialist treatments
