CAMHS Outreach Registered Practitioner

CAMHS Outreach Registered Practitioner

Gloucester

Job summary

Do you have a passion for working with children, young people and their families to facilitate positive change? Do you have the skills to build positive relationships and be a calm and grounding presence in times of crisis?

We are looking to recruit a newly qualified Registered Practitioner (Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker) to join our multi-disciplinary CAMHS Outreach Team in Gloucestershire.

CAMHS Outreach Team is a countywide service, co-located at Acorn House (9am - 5pm) and Pullman Place (5pm - 9.15pm) in Gloucester providing a 9am-9pm service, 7 days a week. We offer an intensive home treatment provision for children and young people under 18 years, experiencing a period of acute mental health crisis.

Our service focuses on admission avoidance, through home treatment and safety planning. Following an admission, we work to support safe and timely discharge back to the community. We have a fantastic success rate supporting children and young people in their recovery at home ensuring they receive the support and treatment they need.

Main duties of the job

We are a supportive, experienced team of clinicians from a variety of professional backgrounds with a wide range of practice experience across both adults and children's services. We have a strong commitment and passion for ensuring the voice of the child is central to all our care and safety planning.

As a team we encourage clinicians to be reflective and curious in their practice, alongside developing their clinical experience and knowledge.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop their professional practice and experience within the team; this would be alongside the Trust's Preceptorship Programme for nurses and Allied Health Professionals. For newly qualified Social Workers, we would facilitate the completion of the Assessed and Supported Year of Employment (ASYE)

As a Band 5 Registered Practitioner your role will be varied and would include:

- Managing a clinical case load; building strong therapeutic relationships to deliver brief, intensive, evidence-based mental health interventions.

- Visiting young people in their homes, community settings, Tier 4 in-patient units and paediatric wards

- Carrying out clinical assessments and mental state examinations.

- Working collaboratively with young people, parents/carers and multi-agency partners to develop a shared understanding of the young person's story.

About us

We have a skilled and dedicated workforce of over 5000 colleagues working in a diverse range of services over 55 sites and within people's homes. We strive to enable a welcoming workplace culture that builds and celebrates civility, inclusivity and diversity, while providing a sense of belonging and trust.

Annual staff surveys, regular Pulse surveys and other engagement opportunities provide our people with lots of opportunity to tell us about their experiences of working with us. In the latest staff survey, 61% of colleagues gave us their views. It was great to hear that:

  • 72% of colleagues would recommend the Trust as a place to work, ranking us 1st for Provider Trusts in the South West region on this question.
  • 76% would recommend the standard of care provided in our services if a friend or relative needed treatment, also ranking us 1st in the South West region.
  • 81% said that care of patients and service users is the Trust's priority, compared with an average in comparable NHS Trusts in England of 64%.

This high-level overview shows we are in a healthy position, with higher scores than average for comparable organisations, alongside a great response rate, indicating good staff engagement. However, we also know we have plenty of room for improvement in many areas. To that end, we continue to prioritise and invest in our commitment to genuinely becoming a Great Place to Work with consistent top-quartile performance in the annual staff survey and Pulse surveys.
