Job summary

The Department of Dermatology is seeking a dedicated and proactive Clinical Fellow to join our team in this 1 WTE role. The focus of this post is to deliver high-quality general dermatology outpatient services across Gloucestershire.

While the post spans both Gloucestershire Royal and Cheltenham General Hospitals, the heart of the service is located at the Aspen Centre. This state-of-the-art, purpose-built facility provides a sophisticated clinical environment, featuring modern consultation suites, and specialised minor procedure rooms for advanced skin surgery. With comprehensive treatment and diagnostic facilities on-site, this role offers an exceptional opportunity to practice in a setting designed for both clinical excellence and professional growth.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the provision of a first-class Dermatology clinical service

To undertake all work in accordance with the Trust's procedures and operating policies

To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Trust's and Division's services plans

To maintain and develop good communications

To participate in research in accordance with priorities agreed within the clinical groups and the Trust within available resources

To contribute to the development of dermatology services, treatment guidance and promotion of greater knowledge of the management of dermatological conditions in primary care.

The Aspen Centre offers a premier, purpose-built environment designed for consultant-led excellence in Dermatology. Based in a modern facility featuring three state of the art operating suites and thirteen modern consultation rooms, supported by dedicated phototherapy and patch testing hubs, the service provides a comprehensive infrastructure for both surgical and medical dermatology.

The department provides an extensive range of sub-specialty clinics, offering dedicated sessions for complex eczema, psoriasis, HS, hair, nail, vulval, and lymphoma, alongside comprehensive patch testing and photo-patch testing. The phototherapy service is equally robust, equipped with UVB and PDT machines at the Aspen Centre, with extended access for patients at Tewkesbury, Cirencester, Stroud and the North Cotswolds. This clinical breadth is supported by an innovative, restructured nursing model, where a consultant's clinical reach is extended by an ACP led team and expert Clinical Nurse Specialists manage surgical procedures, biologic monitoring, breaking bad news, and systemic drug oversight. With surgical sessions spanning the picturesque locations of Cheltenham General and Cirencester, and visiting plastic surgeons providing fortnightly on-site support, the role offers a diverse clinical portfolio.
