Salary £40,383 - £42,612

Description
Digital evidence tells stories. It captures truth, helps victims and supports justice. If you thrive at the intersection of technology, investigation and leadership, this role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact. We are seeking a Digital Multimedia Evidence Supervisor to lead our Video and Imaging team. In this position, you won’t simply manage digital files - you will shape how crucial visual evidence is captured, analysed and presented across Gloucestershire.

Every day, our officers rely on digital imagery to understand what happened, who was involved and how to move an investigation forward. Whether supporting high‑profile court cases, major incidents or day‑to‑day policing, the work you do will directly influence outcomes that matter. As our DME Supervisor, you will guide and develop a skilled group of Video and Imaging practitioners, championing professional development, wellbeing and technical excellence. Your leadership will bring structure, clarity and inspiration to a team working in a fast‑paced and constantly evolving technical environment.

You will also be responsible for driving digital forensic excellence across the unit. This includes overseeing the acquisition, processing and analysis of CCTV, mobile footage and a wide range of other multimedia sources. As the team’s Technical Manager under ISO 17025, you will uphold the highest forensic quality standards and apply industry‑leading methods to ensure evidence is accurate, reliable and ready for court. Working with advanced tools is a core part of the role; you will use specialist software and hardware such as Adobe Creative Suite, Amped FIVE, Camtasia, DVR Examiner and numerous proprietary CCTV systems. No two days will be the same - each brings new systems, new challenges and new opportunities to innovate.

Another key aspect of the role involves creating compelling visual material that helps investigators, legal professionals and courts clearly understand what happened. This might involve producing annotated video compilations, applying visual overlays or mapping techniques, or highlighting key subjects and events within footage. Your expertise can often be the difference between evidence being understood or overlooked. The role also requires regular attendance at locations across the county to recover footage directly from embedded CCTV systems. This hands‑on technical work may involve challenging environments, such as working at height or within confined spaces, and every scene will present its own unique set of problems to solve.

We are looking for someone who is technically capable but also curious, resilient and truly committed to public service. You will ideally bring experience or qualifications in digital multimedia, digital forensics or a closely related field, alongside relevant certifications. A strong understanding of CCTV systems, digital imagery, codecs and video processing is essential, as is knowledge of evidential standards, FSR Codes of Practice, GDPR and MOPI. You should be able to explain technical concepts simply and confidently, hold leadership or supervisory experience, and feel comfortable handling sensitive or distressing material when required. A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel across the county are also vital. If you enjoy problem‑solving, innovation and working with emerging technologies, you will find this role both challenging and rewarding.

This is far more than a technical position - it is public service in one of its most modern forms. The work you do will help victims find answers, assist investigators in uncovering the truth, enable courts to see evidence more clearly and ultimately help the public feel safer. You will join a team that values innovation, integrity, technical excellence, continuous learning and genuine collaboration. As digital evidence continues to grow as one of the most critical areas of modern policing, your expertise will play a key role in shaping how Gloucestershire Constabulary evolves in this rapidly developing field.

The successful candidate for this role will be vetted at level Staff RV. This means the individual will need at least 3 years worth of residency in the UK.

Please refer to the Role Profile document when completing the Statement in support of your application section of the form. In this section, you are required to provide evidence with specific examples for each of the Essential criteria included under the Experience and Qualifications section of the Role Profile. For each of the criteria, please write a paragraph detailing how your experience, qualifications, skills and abilities meet the minimum criteria for the role. Applicants who do not provide this required evidence will unfortunately not be invited to interview.
