Learning Support Assistants Central Bristol £90 £127.41 per day

Empower young people in alternative education.

An expanding network of inclusive, trauma-informed alternative provisions in central Bristol is seeking Learning Support Assistants to join their growing teams. These settings work with students aged 4 16 who have experienced disruption to their education and may be at risk of exclusion due to complex behavioural and emotional needs.

With a strong focus on positive relationships, personalised learning, and restorative practice, these provisions offer a fresh start for young people in small, supportive settings. If you're passionate about helping young people re-engage with learning, this is your chance to make a real impact.

The Role:
  • Daily rate: £90 £127.41, based on experience and role responsibilities
  • Long-term and potentially permanent positions are available after a settling-in period
  • Join an experienced, trauma-informed team
  • Work 1:1 or in small staff-to-student ratios (e.g., 2:1 or 3:1)
  • Support students with SEMH, Autism (ASC), and sensory processing differences
  • Promote positive behaviour and resilience through relational, student-led approaches
Essential Requirements:
  • Experience supporting challenging behaviour in education, youth work, care, or similar fields
  • Currently living in or near Bristol, with Right to Work in the UK
  • Access to your own vehicle and business insurance
  • An Enhanced DBS for the Child Workforce on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
  • Strong sense of empathy, emotional resilience, and a flexible approach to working across year groups
Desirable (but not essential):
  • Team Teach (Level 2) or similar positive behaviour support training
  • Experience in SEMH or alternative provision settings
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, or restorative approaches
