Would you relish the opportunity to teach students A level Politics and related Humanities and Social Sciences subjects within a college setting?  

The Faculty of Humanities is seeking an enthusiastic and committed Lecturer of Politics to join our dynamic and forward-thinking college. This is a unique and rare opportunity to teach across multiple key stages, delivering a combination of A Level Politics, both the Global and USA pathways, alongside GCSE equivalent courses as part of our innovative and impactful UpGrade and APP programmes of study. 

These bespoke programmes are designed to support students in uplifting their secondary school experience. UpGrade aims to equip students with the confidence and grades at GCSE level to progress to their chosen pathways, either here at Cirencester College or elsewhere, to undertake an apprenticeship or to seek employment with training. Our A Level Progression Programme (APP) forms the first of a three-year fulltime programme of study, supporting students in building academic and transferable skills alongside subject-specific knowledge geared towards their chosen A Level courses, thus laying a strong foundation for a successful transition.  

Across all courses, you will play a vital role in shaping and facilitating learners’ confidence, academic skills, and long-term aspirations. 

The successful candidate will demonstrate a genuine passion for education, a commitment to facilitating student success, and be skilled in engaging and motivating students with varying levels of ability. You will show resilience, creativity and determination in supporting learners who may face challenges and be committed to fostering a positive, inclusive and aspirational learning environment. 

You will teach surrounded by a committed and supportive team who will readily share resources and best practice, as well as offering support whenever required. Within this environment, we would help you further develop as a practitioner, as you in turn develop your students.

The post holder will be expected to: 

Deliver high-quality teaching in A Level Politics and GCSE equivalent level courses, supporting a diverse range of learners.  

Be willing to teach, in-part, across other subjects if required (dependent on skills). 

Engage in ongoing professional development and college-wide improvement initiatives to develop the skills and resources to deliver truly outstanding provision. 

Demonstrate a relentless commitment to facilitating exceptional learning to enable all students to achieve their full potential.  

Demonstrate outstanding organisational and interpersonal skills. 

Possess the ability to truly work as a team player as part of a collaborative and forward-thinking team. 

Contribute to the design and development of engaging, accessible and challenging lessons, as well as the continued development of the UpGrade and APP programmes of study. 

Monitor and track student progress, providing tailored feedback and intervention. 

Effectively prepare students for non-examined assessments and examined assessments. 

Possess either proven experience in industry or a good honours degree in a related subject (or a combination of both). Ideally you will hold a teaching qualification or be committed to obtain a suitable qualification once in post.
