Description
A vacancy has arisen for the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Manager in the Constabulary DBS Unit.
The primary role of the DBS is to help employers make safer recruitment decisions and prevent unsuitable people from working with vulnerable groups, by providing criminal record checks and assisting with decisions on barring referrals.
The main purpose of this role is to have overall responsibility for the management of the DBS team and for the decision making that is undertaken within in it. This entails ensuring your team effectively interpret and apply the DBS guidelines and associated legislation so that important risk-based decisions in respect of Enhanced DBS certification are safe and robust. The unit’s Manager will also represent the Constabulary at regional and national forums, which are overseen by the DBS Agency, the Home Office and the National Police Chiefs Council.
We are looking for a confident and proactive leader who enjoys working in a busy and complex environment. The workload is high and subject to specific service level requirements in terms of quality and timeliness. You will need to effectively manage competing demands as well as motivate and continually develop the team to meet compliance levels.
The role is full-time (37 hours per week) and allows for flexible working hours and by agreement a blend of office based and remote/home working.

The successful candidate for this role will be vetted at level Staff MV/RV. This means the individual will need at least 5/3 years worth of residency in the UK.
