MMP Consultancy is seeking an Electrical Repairs Manager on behalf of a Local Authority in Bristol on a rolling temporary contract. The hourly rate is 37ph via an umbrella company inside of IR35, with a 37-hour working week, Monday to Friday.

The successful candidate will be responsible for electrical repairs, testing, and planned maintenance across council-owned homes and properties. They will be managing supervisors, electrical engineers, apprentices, and quality control engineers, ensuring all works are compliant with current legislation and delivered to a high standard.

The Electrical Repairs Manager will oversee service delivery, improve operational efficiency, champion innovation, and maintain a strong focus on health & safety, value for money, and excellent customer experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the electrical repairs and maintenance team, driving high performance and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with housing and safety regulations, including the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023 and HHSRS.
  • Deliver cost-effective services, monitor contractor performance, and ensure work is right-first-time.
  • Support staff development and maintain high standards of training, competence, and wellbeing.
  • Oversee inspections and ensure timely delivery of both response and planned electrical work.
  • Manage budgets, monitor spend, and contribute to financial forecasting and strategic planning.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve service delivery.
  • Promote a customer-focused approach, using feedback to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in managing teams in electrical repairs or maintenance within housing or a similar environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of housing legislation, electrical compliance, and health & safety standards.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to coach and develop a multi-skilled team.
  • Ability to manage budgets, contractors and service performance with a keen focus on quality and efficiency.
  • A commitment to equality, diversity and customer engagement in service delivery.
  • Relevant qualifications in electrical engineering or building services (e.g., NICEIC, 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations).
