Laboratory Manager - Food Manufacturing

£36,370 - £36,400 DOE + excellent benefits
We are seeking an experienced Laboratory Manager from the food manufacturing sector to join a well-established and respected producer based in Tewkesbury. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a small, dedicated team within a business that values quality, innovation, and its people.
The Role
As Laboratory Manager, you will take full ownership of the laboratory function, ensuring compliance with BRCGS standards, HACCP protocols, and all relevant food safety legislation. You'll manage testing schedules, maintain audit readiness, and inspire your team to deliver the highest standards of quality and product integrity.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and mentoring a small laboratory team, promoting a culture of excellence and accountability
* Planning and overseeing testing across raw materials, in-process, and finished products
* Maintaining audit readiness and liaising with external auditors
* Ensuring all laboratory equipment is maintained, calibrated, and verified
* Managing documentation, SOPs, HACCP, COSHH, and QMS compliance
* Driving continuous improvement, KPIs, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions
* Managing external testing, certificates of analysis, and non-conformance investigations
About You
To be considered, you must have current or recent experience working within the food manufacturing sector. You will also bring:
* Proven laboratory management or senior lab experience in food manufacturing
* Strong working knowledge of BRCGS Food Safety, HACCP, and QMS
* Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
* Confidence in data analysis, SOP writing, and problem-solving
* HNC/Degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or related discipline (desirable)
