An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a thriving, regional Civil Engineering contractor in the South West following a phenomenal period of growth, including a 40% increase in turnover over the last 12 months.

Back-to-back project wins and continued regional expansion have secured a high-profile, prestigious scheme in Bristol. As a result, our client is seeking an experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to lead and deliver the full project lifecycle from inception through to completion.

As Project Manager you will:

  • Site & Operational Leadership: Manage day-to-day civil engineering site operations, supervising workforce productivity, materials delivery, and sub-contractors.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Maintain full compliance with H&S plans (including RAMS), secure necessary permits/licenses, and champion high safety standards across site activities.
  • Project Planning & Delivery: Develop comprehensive work schedules and phase plans to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and to a high standard.
  • Commercial & Budgetary Control: Manage project resources manpower, equipment, and materials monitoring budgets to prevent overspend and managing material ordering/reconciliation.
  • Client & Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, holding regular progress meetings, providing detailed reports, and maintaining strong professional relationships.
  • Team Management & Development: Lead, direct, and recruit site personnel and subcontractors; conduct quarterly 1:1s and manage ongoing training and development.

Our client requires a Project Manager with:

  • Proven Track Record: Extensive experience as a Construction Project Manager, successfully delivering civil engineering or construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of construction procedures, material management, site logistics, and core project management principles.
  • Planning & Programming: Highly proficient in construction programming, project scheduling tools, and timeline management.
  • Commercial & Stakeholder Negotiation: Exceptional communication, relationship-building, and negotiation skills to influence stakeholders, manage clients, and coordinate contractors effectively.
  • Organisation & Time Management: Superior organisational abilities to balance competing priorities, control budgets, and drive strict deadlines on site.
  • Leadership & Team Collaboration: Natural leader with strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative approach to motivating site teams and managing personnel.

Salary: Up to £80,000 per annum

Benefits: Car allowance, 25 days annual leave (exc bank holidays), company pension etc

Location: Project based in Bristol (close to M5/M4)
