Marketing Executive - Flexible Hours
Gloucester
Salary: £29,000–£32,500 per annum, depending on experience, based on a 39-hour working week. Pro rata for part-time hours.
Location: Based at our Gloucester premises
Help develop two brands and put our business on the map.
Are you creative, organised and ready to take ownership of marketing for a small business? Can you turn ideas into finished work, from a website page to a product brochure or customer campaign?
Lifting and Crane is an established Gloucester business supplying, manufacturing, hiring, inspecting and repairing lifting equipment. We also manufacture and sell our own equipment under the Samson brand.
We have experienced people, a wide range of products and services, and plenty to tell customers about. Our marketing hasn’t kept pace. Under new ownership, we’re investing effort in developing the business and want someone to take day-to-day ownership of marketing across both brands.
This could suit a graduate with practical experience, someone early in their marketing career or someone returning to work. We’re interested in what you can create, how you organise your work and your willingness to learn.
The opportunity
You’ll help plan and deliver our marketing across digital and traditional channels, with room to contribute ideas and see them through.
Your first major priorities will be redeveloping our website, improving online sales and bringing consistency to our brands. Alongside these projects, you’ll establish regular marketing activity to promote our products and services, support sales and generate enquiries.
You’ll deliver the work yourself using established platforms and tools, with priorities and budgets agreed with the business.
What you’ll be doing
Developing our two brands: help shape how Lifting and Crane and Samson look, sound and are promoted. Build recognition of both and maintain a consistent identity across customer-facing materials.
Redeveloping our website: improve the structure, content and presentation of our WordPress website, making our service lines easy to understand and helping customers find what they need.
Developing ecommerce: improve our online shop, product listings, images and buying experience. Help establish clear routes to purchase standard products and enquire about bespoke requirements.
Creating marketing and sales materials: produce brochures, product sheets, presentations, promotional materials and other content that helps colleagues explain and sell our offering.
Running campaigns: plan and deliver activity across email, social media, print and other relevant channels to reach existing and potential customers.
Telling our story: gather information from colleagues and create case studies, photographs, short videos and useful content about our products, services and work.
Organising our marketing systems: maintain contact lists, enquiry forms, shared brand assets, email marketing tools and website analytics.
Measuring results: track enquiries, online sales and campaign performance, using what you learn to improve future activity.
What we’re looking for
You don’t need lifting equipment experience. We’ll help you understand our products, services and customers.
You should bring:
- Practical experience building or substantially improving a WordPress website.
- Some understanding of ecommerce, ideally including WooCommerce.
- Clear written English and an eye for design, layout and consistent branding.
- Confidence creating materials using tools such as Canva or Adobe.
- The ability to organise several tasks, agree priorities and finish what you start.
- An interest in understanding technical products and explaining them clearly.
Experience with SEO, email marketing, print production, photography, video or analytics would be helpful. You don’t need to be an expert in every area, but you should enjoy learning and putting new skills into practice.
We’d like to see examples of your work. These could come from employment, university, volunteering, freelance work or your own projects.
Support, flexibility and progression
You’ll be part of a small team, with access to colleagues who know our products and customers. We’ll agree manageable priorities, provide information and review technical content with you.
You’ll have scope to suggest improvements and take responsibility for delivery. As the business grows, there will be opportunities to develop your skills and take on broader responsibility.
We offer flexibility over start and finish times and are happy to discuss a regular working pattern around school drop-offs, pick-ups or other commitments, within the agreed weekly hours.
