Welder/Machinist (Engineer)

LOCATION: Coleford site
REPORTS TO: Depot Manager

The post holder is required to be able to use a variety of welding equipment and metal working machinery and to be able to read and work from drawings and instructions.

RESPONSIBLE TASKS:

• Be able to operate a variety of welding equipment: oxy acetylene, arc and mig etc as well as metal working equipment including lathes, radial arm drills and associated accessories and hand tools.
• To be able to prepare items for welding and weld.
• Manufacture items to specified dimensions as described in work instructions and drawings.
• Ensure that specified tolerances are accurate and maintained.
• To ensure that all items are fit for purpose and be able to identify in process faults if they arise.
• To be able to check and inspect their own work for quality and conformity and to ensure that all processes are carried out as per work instructions and company procedures.
• To maintain a high standard of work as part of the manufacturing team.
• To be able to carry out basic checks and maintenance on machinery.

QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING:

• The post holder will have a recognised welding qualification and / or 2 years’ experience in a welding post.
• A forklift truck licence may be an advantage.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation.
• To be able to work as part of a team.
