I'm currently representing my client who are searching for a mechanical engineer to work within the fluid handling/pump industry. Please see JD below:



Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Hybrid / Gloucester Contract: Permanent Hours: Mon-Fri, 8:30-5:00

I'm looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of new and existing fluid-handling products. This role focuses on delivering innovative, compliant and manufacturable engineering solutions from concept through to production.



The Role

  • Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies, improving existing products and creating new concepts

  • Produce 3D models, 2D drawings, BOMs and documentation using SolidWorks within a PDM environment

  • Apply DFM/DFA principles, safety standards and compliance requirements

  • Perform FEA using SolidWorks Simulation and prepare clear technical reports

  • Support prototyping, testing and validation, iterating designs based on results

  • Collaborate with Product Management, Production, Quality and Supply Chain

  • Contribute to design reviews, risk assessments and project lifecycle activities

  • Create visualisations or renders for internal and external use

  • Maintain accurate engineering data and version control



About You

  • HND/Bachelor's in Mechanical or Product Design Engineering (or related discipline)

  • 5+ years' experience in mechanical product design/development, ideally including fluid-handling equipment

  • Skilled in SolidWorks 3D CAD and familiar with PDM systems

  • Experience with FEA, DFMA, GD&T and testing processes

  • Strong communication, attention to detail and problem-solving ability

  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and meet deadlines

  • Desirable: SolidWorks certification, exposure to electrical integration, chemical dosing experience, and stage-gate processes
