Drama & Music Associate
Cheltenham
Fixed Term, One year with a potential to be extended
Together, the Music and Drama departments at Pate’s offer a vibrant and enriching performing arts experience, providing students with the skills, confidence, and creativity to thrive, while nurturing a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
Our Drama Department is a dynamic and integral part of school life, inspiring students to explore, perform, and grow. Taught by a passionate team and supported by specialist LAMDA instructors, Drama benefits from excellent facilities, including a fully equipped studio with professional lighting, staging, and extensive costume and prop resources. A strong co-curricular programme includes clubs, productions, and technical opportunities, alongside highlights such as the House Drama competition and regular theatre visits, all of which foster creativity, collaboration, and confidence both on and off the stage.
Our Music Department is a thriving and inclusive hub of creativity, offering outstanding opportunities for students of all abilities. Supported by 20 specialist peripatetic teachers, music is academically strong, with high uptake at GCSE and A Level – and a consistent record of students progressing to top universities and music colleges. Beyond the classroom, a rich co-curricular programme of 21 weekly ensembles and over 30 annual performances provides regular opportunities to perform, collaborate, and develop confidence, with junior and senior music tours further enriching students’ experiences.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative Performing Arts specialist to join our vibrant school community and help bring the performing arts to life. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is truly passionate about both disciplines and is eager to inspire the next generation of performers. Whether your strengths lie in drama, music, or a combination of both, you will play a key role in supporting and delivering an engaging and dynamic programme that celebrates creativity, expression, and performance.
Working closely with experienced teaching staff, you will support lessons across KeyStage 3 and above, contributing to practical, performance-led learning experiences that capture students’ imagination. You will also have the opportunity to deliver high-quality lessons to allocated classes and encourage students to build confidence in their communication, performance, and creative skills. Your energy and enthusiasm will help create an environment where students feel inspired to explore their artistic potential.
Beyond the classroom, you will be at the heart of a thriving co-curricular programme, supporting clubs, ensembles, workshops, and school productions. From rehearsals to live performances, you will play an integral role in bringing concerts, showcases, and productions to life, helping students develop teamwork, resilience, and a love of the performing arts. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who will enjoy being fully immersed in the creative life of a school.
In this role you will also cover lessons across the school when teachers are absent, delivering pre-prepared work to students and providing clear feedback on student engagement and progress.
You may be a Drama or Music graduate or someone who has worked in the performing arts, with some experience of working with students in KS3 and above, whether in a school, theatre group, or music setting. You may be considering a future career in teaching, or looking to share your passion for drama and music to develop young talent, excited to make a meaningful impact in a supportive and creative environment.
