The Rating team at WSP GL Hearn is a highly skilled and specialised group, dedicated to providing exceptional Rating and Valuation services to clients in the commercial real estate sector.
With deep expertise in the complex rating landscape, we combine strategic insights with extensive industry knowledge to deliver accurate and insightful assessments. We pride ourselves on navigating evolving regulations and market conditions, offering clients the expertise they need to optimise property portfolios and minimise tax liabilities.
With a proven track record and a results-driven approach, the Rating team is the trusted partner clients turn to for comprehensive and reliable rating services.
Your Role Will Include:
- Providing administrative support in the operational management of a large, complex client portfolio, under the guidance of a senior colleague.
- Verifying rates bills issued by billing authorities against data held in GLHIMS (our internal database) for properties across England, ensuring accuracy for client reimbursement.
- Liaising with billing authorities to resolve issues related to occupational changes, updates to the rating list, exemptions, and reliefs.
- Pursuing refunds on behalf of clients, ensuring timely collections and accurate cash allocation.
- Obtaining information from clients and responding to queries promptly.
- Delivering ad hoc reports to clients as required.
- Meeting all KPIs as outlined in Client Contracts and Service Level Agreements, to agreed deadlines and standards set by the Client Director and Line Manager.
What We’re Looking For:
- Knowledge of Business Rates.
- Strong numeracy skills; ideally with experience in cash and financial reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a close-knit and wider team.
- Confidence to escalate matters appropriately to senior team members.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
