JOB TYPE: Fixed Term Contract, starting ASAP until 30th July 2027.
HOURS: Up to 35 hours per week (flexible working requests will be considered, with a minimum of 21 hours per week)
LOCATION: Hybrid – Home working with 1–2 days per week at Cheltenham office

WellChild, based in Cheltenham, is the national charity for seriously ill children and their families. Through practical and emotional support, training and information, WellChild helps children and young people with complex medical needs thrive at home.
What we are looking for:
We are looking for an enthusiastic, organised individual to join our Challenge Events Team as a Fixed Term Events Assistant.
This is an exciting opportunity to support WellChild’s expanding challenge events programme, with a particular focus on the London Marathon 2027. You will provide administrative, operational and supporter care support to participants from registration through to event day, helping them maximise their fundraising and enjoy an excellent experience while supporting WellChild.
The successful candidate will have strong administrative skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to build positive relationships with supporters, volunteers and colleagues. Experience in an administrative role is essential; experience of CRM systems, fundraising or the charity sector would be an advantage.
What you will do:
You will provide day-to-day administrative and practical support to the Challenge Events Team, primarily for the London Marathon 2027. Acting as the first point of contact for challenge event participants, you will process applications, maintain accurate supporter records, coordinate communications and support fundraising activity.
You will also help plan and deliver WellChild’s presence at the London Marathon Running Show and marathon event weekend, supporting event logistics and helping create a memorable experience for participants and supporters.
*You will also need to be able to be onsite in London from the 19th – 26th April*
What we are looking for:
- Experience in an administrative and/or project support role.
- Excellent organisational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and use initiative when working independently.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to prioritise work and manage multiple deadlines.
- Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and GDPR requirements.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams.
- Experience using a CRM database such as Beacon (desirable).
- Experience in the charity or voluntary sector (desirable).
- Experience supporting events or challenge fundraising activities (desirable).

We operate a hybrid home/office working policy.
The role will involve travel and occasional work outside normal working hours, including attendance at the London Marathon Running Show and London Marathon event weekend (19th - 26th April 27)
