The Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering / Maintenance Manager to take ownership of the maintenance function at a key production site.

Reporting directly to the Operations Director, you will lead a skilled engineering team while also remaining hands-on where required. This is an ideal role for someone who enjoys a balance of leadership, strategy, and technical problem-solving on the shop floor.

You will play a critical role in driving equipment reliability, reducing downtime, and supporting overall operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
Lead, develop, and motivate the maintenance engineering team
Design and implement robust preventative maintenance strategies to minimise downtime
Analyse maintenance performance data and report on key KPIs to senior leadership
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across plant, equipment, and facilities
Work cross-functionally with production and operations teams to improve efficiency and output
Ensure full compliance with health, safety, and statutory regulations
Oversee reactive and planned maintenance activities, including out-of-hours cover planning
Manage maintenance budgets and identify cost-saving and efficiency opportunities
Supervise external contractors, ensuring quality, safety, and performance standards are met
Provide hands-on technical support during breakdowns, faults, and equipment upgrades


About You
Proven experience in an Engineering / Maintenance Manager role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment (food/FMCG desirable)
Strong electrical and mechanical engineering knowledge
Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build, motivate, and develop high-performing teams
Strong problem-solving ability with a track record of root cause analysis and permanent fixes
Experience working with maintenance systems, KPIs, and reporting
Confident working cross-functionally with production and senior stakeholders
Experience with technical drawing/design software such as AutoCAD (desirable)
Highly organised with strong planning, budgeting, and reporting skills
Flexible and hands-on approach when operational demands require
