Education and Employability
Community Development and Inclusion
Health and Wellbeing

GL Communities came into existence as a Company in 2008 and as a charity in
2010; it was built out of the experience of over 40 years of neighbourhood working in
Gloucestershire.

GL Communities represents the coming together of three of the most successful of
these neighbourhood organisations (White City Community Project, Matson
Neighbourhood Project and Podsmead Neighbourhood Project).

Sue Cunningham has been at the helm from the beginning and has now been in post
in a full-time role for 27 years, originally as a community co-ordinator, as Operations
Manager and in the role of CEO since 2015. Sue is stepping down ready for a well-
deserved retirement, and the organisation is replacing her with a new CEO Cathy
Griffth and Operations Manager both working part time to enable us to ensure the
work that is part of our strategic plan we are able to embed and hence a great
opportunity for another inspiring, community worker, focused individual to step into,
what will be an interesting and challenging role.

The team at GL Communities strive every day to make communities, and the
residents that live within in, lives easier, offer new opportunities for them and an
array of choices around their lifestyles. We believe that this will lead to happier,
more equitable lives, and neighbourhoods and communities that are more
welcoming and inclusive.
