We design and manufacture extrusion cutting machines and ancillary machines.

Due to retirement, we are looking to employ a part time skilled Manual Lathe Turner to join our team.
The components that we manufacture are used within our own products that we design and build.

Hours: 3 days out of the usual company factory hours of Monday to Thursday 07.30 - 16.45, Friday 07.30 – 11:30

What You'll Be Doing

  • Working from detailed engineering drawings to make bespoke parts used in our extrusion cutting machines and ancillary machines.
  • Reporting to the Production Manager

What We're Looking For

  • A fully skilled Manual Lathe Turner
  • Strong background in a similar role
  • Can work from engineering drawings
  • 10+ years of experience within a similar role
  • Someone who can hit the ground running and work on their own initiative

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Interpret 2D engineering drawings, and specifications and produce accurate parts.
  • Work alongside and in conjunction with our manual mill operator to complete parts
  • Plan machining activities, including:
  • Determining how to machine component features
  • Selecting the appropriate machine for each task
  • Establishing the most efficient machining sequence
  • Selecting appropriate tooling
  • Applying correct speeds, feeds, lubricants, and pressures
  • Carry out dimensional inspection and layout “mark off” prior to machining
  • Operate 3 different sizes of manual Lathe.
  • Inspect components throughout the machining process and complete final inspections to ensure quality standards are achieved
  • Troubleshoot issues and make necessary adjustments
  • Deburr components and prepare them safely for use.
  • Maintain clean, organised machines and work areas
  • Perform general TPM activities including swarf removal, coolant checks, routine oiling, and greasing
  • Monitor and maintain consumable stock levels (e.g., lubricants)
  • Machining components to a high standard
  • Occasionally working independently on varied jobs and materials
  • Perform final blade setting via accurate machining on our extrusion cutting machines.
