About the role
National Star is looking for enthusiastic and efficient Front of House Assistants to join our team on a bank basis to help us ensure that we are able to maintain a full food and drink service to internal and external customers during our busy times or to help us cover for staff absences.

Based at National Star in Ullenwood on the outskirts of Cheltenham, we have a staff minibus that runs from central Cheltenham and central Gloucester or plenty of parking on site if you prefer to drive.

Unusually for a hospitality role, our shifts are mostly Monday to Friday very occasionally special evening events or at weekends. Your shifts may vary but will generally fall between 8 am and 5pm.

StarBistro is no ordinary eating establishment – we have recently been named Tripadvisor 2025 Travellers’ Choice Award Winner and we work tirelessly to provide an excellent service to our customers as well as a training opportunity for our students.

A group of enthusiastic students with disabilities are using StarBistro as the training ground for their future careers. They work in the kitchen, front of house and behind the scenes to develop their hospitality and customer service skills.

Working as an important part of the team, you will perform various front of house duties with occasional help in the kitchen with basic food preparation to support our chefs. You will also be working along side and helping to support our students who are completing their work placements.

Previous experience in a front of house / hospitality catering role (ideally in residential care or school environment) is required for this role . Whilst we would expect you to have a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate don’t worry if you haven’t got experience mentoring young people with disabilities. We’re experts in this field and will be happy to teach and support you.

We recognise that it is a busy time of the year so please apply as soon as you are able to – Interviews will be held w/c 5 January 2026.
