We are a small, friendly accounting firm committed to providing exceptional payroll and accounting services to our diverse client base. Our team values professionalism, accuracy, and a client-first approach, and we are looking for a skilled Payroll Administrator to join us.

The Role:

As a Payroll Administrator, you will play a key role in managing the payroll function for our clients, ensuring all processes are executed accurately, on time, and in full compliance with regulations. This role requires a high level of autonomy, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll for multiple clients using Brightpay.
  • Deal with manual calculations and update employee records as required.
  • Calculate ad-hoc payments such as holiday pay.
  • Process P45s for leavers.
  • Process payments for CIS subcontractors
  • Submit monthly CIS returns to HMRC.
  • Complete end-of-year processing, including P11Ds and P60s.
  • Liaise with clients regarding payroll, CIS, and general queries.
  • Ensure compliance with current payroll legislation and deadlines and stay informed of changes in payroll legislation and best practices
  • Ensure compliance with pension auto-enrolment.
  • Maintain up-to-date payroll records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Identify and resolve payroll issues efficiently, using your initiative to find solutions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and clients to enhance payroll processes and systems.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in payroll administration, ideally within an accounting or payroll bureau environment.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, tax codes, and statutory requirements.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative to solve problems.
  • Strong organisational skills and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple client payrolls.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in payroll software (Brightpay) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) – training can be given on Brightpay software
