About the role
In this role, you will work closely and meet with families of young people and key stakeholders for new applications and students seeking to continue their education at National Star. You will advise and guide them through any external appeal and Tribunal processes for placements at National Star.
We’re looking for someone who is highly organised, detail-oriented, and a confident communicator with strong written skills. You’ll join a small, experienced, and supportive team dedicated to expanding the assistance National Star provides to families navigating complex and challenging situations. You’ll collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across the college to prepare detailed information for families, Local Authorities and their legal teams towards ensuring the best possible outcomes.
Your resilience, creativity, and persuasive skills will be essential in compiling compelling evidence that demonstrates how National Star can meet the special educational needs (SEN) for a young person. Ideally you will understand how placements are commissioned through education plans in England (Education, Health & Care Plans – EHCPs) and Wales (Individual Development Plans – IDPs) and the legislation that governs these processes or have a proven ability to develop this knowledge.
This is a full-time role (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year) with 25 days’ annual leave (plus allowance for Bank Holidays) and a salary of up to £30,000, depending on experience in specialist education and/or advisory roles. We are seeking someone who is open to hybrid working, following an initial training period based at the Ullenwood site.
At National Star, Preparing for Adulthood and empowering young people with disabilities to live fulfilling, active lives are at the heart of our vision and mission.
