Personal Assistant & Companion - North Cotswolds

Personal Assistant & Companion - North Cotswolds

Moreton-in-Marsh

We are looking to meet a new Personal Assistant & Companion as we continue to build a small, established team supporting a great guy in his own home in the North Cotswolds.

This is a varied and rewarding role for someone warm, sociable, exceptionally reliable and confident working independently. It is very different from a conventional care role. Companionship, personality and finding the right fit are just as important to us as the practical side of the job.

Nick has limited mobility and is shadow-walked throughout the day, with his PA remaining close by to provide stability and assistance. Support is also provided getting safely into and out of the bathroom/toilet, but there is no intimate or personal care.

The role is active and varied. Nick my civil partner swims during the week and goes to the gym at weekends, so someone with an active or sporty outlook would be a real asset. Getting out and about, appointments and walking our much-loved Beagle are also part of everyday life.

Good food and a well-run home are important to us. The PA on duty takes responsibility for shopping, meal planning and preparation, cooking fresh meals, thorough cleaning, laundry, bedding and keeping the home properly organised.

You do not necessarily need to come from a care background. We are particularly interested in people with transferable skills and would welcome applicants from hospitality or chef backgrounds, former military, police or emergency services, gardening or outdoor work, sport and fitness, private households, as well as experienced PAs and support workers.

You will need to be physically active and capable of providing appropriate close mobility and weight-bearing support when required. You should be dependable, mature in outlook, practical, organised and comfortable taking responsibility and using your own initiative. A good sense of humour and the ability to provide relaxed, enjoyable companionship are particularly important.

You must be completely LGBTQ+ friendly, respectful and discreet, and comfortable around dogs.

A full clean UK driving licence is essential. Driving is an important part of the role and a Motability Volkswagen Tiguan is provided for supporting Nick with swimming, gym visits, shopping, appointments and getting out and about. Due to the Motability insurance eligibility requirements for this vehicle, the successful applicant must be aged 25 or over and will need to be approved as a named driver.

Regular work is Saturday, Sunday and Monday, based around a minimum 8-hour day, normally approximately 9:30am–5:30pm. Flexibility is important and additional agreed hours are paid. Additional and backup work may also be available across the wider PA team.

The standard rate is £20.80 per hour. Enhanced support rates are £223.50 for overnight support from 6:30pm–9:30am and £389.90 per 24-hour period for 24-hour/live-in support.

Live-in support may be required when extended cover is needed in the UK and during periods when the employer is working overseas, typically for four weeks or more around twice each year. This can provide significant additional earning opportunities for someone who has the flexibility and would like this work.

Paid annual leave is 5.6 weeks pro rata, with the majority coordinated with the employer's main summer leave and normally taken during July and August. Bank holidays falling on normal rota days are ordinarily working days. Meals are provided while working.

DBS, references and right-to-work checks will be required.

We are particularly interested in meeting someone who could become a trusted, long-term part of a small and established team.
